Feeding
We feed birds with high-quality seed mixes, fortified with vitamins. There is always a supply of fresh water, plus a variety of other foods, including a selection of fruit and vegetables, which are always thoroughly washed. If you prefer, we will use your own supply of feed and accessories to keep your pet comfortable and avoid stress.
Facilities
At Hest Bank Kennels, we pride ourselves in being able to provide the right facilities for boarding, High priority is given to stimulation, and social contact contributing to achieving the happiness and general wellbeing of your pet bird whilst in our care.
Cages are available on our premises, or you can provide your own if you prefer. Please note that small birds – such as finches, budgies, canaries, and cockatiels – only board in their own cages. Staff will provide food and water and clean cages and toys regularly. We also provide cuttlefish, multivitamin drops in water, and grit and sand to floor coverings to aid digestion.
Health and Illness
Please note that your pet bird must be in fit and healthy condition as a condition of boarding. Pet birds are boarded at the sole risk of their owners and while every care will be taken by our professional team, we are not liable for illness, injury, or death of your pet bird. We reserve the right to turn away any sick birds or pets in poor condition.
We ask that you notify us of any recent injury, illness, or disability when you leave your pet with us. As per your veterinarian’s instructions, we are happy to administer any treatments, medicines, or bespoke requests for no extra charge. Hest Bank Kennels will provide any special care required for medical conditions and our comprehensive insurance covers all pet birds staying with us.
Collection and Delivery
We offer a chauffeur pickup and delivery service for small cage birds for most areas, in our own vehicle. Charges are available on request, booking only made in advance. If you prefer to drop off your pet yourself, we ask that all birds are brought into reception in an adequate secure cage or carrier for their safety and security.
